Ohio-Kentucky Bridge Repair Aiming for March Reopening

CINCINNATI, Ohio – Work to repair the Daniel Carter Beard Bridge nicknamed the “Big Mac” Bridge is coming along with the span expected to reopen in March.

Cincinnati-based The Great Lakes Construction Co. is the project’s general contractor. The project is estimated to come in at approximately $12 million, according to the Ohio Dept. of Transportation.

In early January, two individuals were charged with setting the fires on Nov. 1 and two more for impeding the investigation. The adjacent playground fire was so hot that it melted metal on the yellow twin-span steel bowstring arch bridge, the length of which is 3,800 feet (main span)…
