I enjoyed watching the birds in Highcliff during the lead up to our recent “impactful weather” event. It is amazing how these terms arise in the media and take on a life all their own. In the past I have heard forecasts for a winter weather watch or advisory, winter storm watch, an influential front, adverse, extreme, inclement or severe weather. Impactful weather was a new catchphrase to me. I suppose it is accurate terminology as weather impacts us all.

Forecasters had the timetable for the impactful weather’s arrival in our area at around 10 a.m., Friday. Snow was projected to begin falling at the appointed hour and continue throughout the day.
