THE VILLAGES — For a zingy taste of the islands, you won’t have to take a Caribbean cruise. Just head to the Lake Sumter Landing area, where those craving an island vibe can enjoy some jerk-seasoned goodness at The Waterfront Inn’s new restaurant, Calypso .
Calypso is one of the new amenities to emerge from the boutique hotel’s recent renovation, completed in December. Improvements to the Waterfront Inn can be seen in the lobby, meeting and event spaces and pool area.
“Calypso provides a sun-soaked dining experience that blends the bold flavors of the Caribbean with the beauty of lakeside dining,” a media release from the restaurant’s parent company, AHC Hospitality, boasted, adding that Calypso “transports guests to an island escape with an energetic indoor-outdoor bar featuring a lineup of live music from local musicians to enjoy craft cocktails and acoustic tunes while basking in the breeze from Lake Sumter.”
Features include floor-to-ceiling windows with views of Lake Sumter, murals and jewel-tone décor…
