COACHING AND THIS YEAR
Houston is led by 11th-year head coach Kelvin Sampson, who’s highly regarded as one of the top coaches in the country. He’s guided the Cougars to a 276-82 (.771) overall record since taking over back in 2014, which includes five conference titles, four 30-plus win seasons, six NCAA Tournament appearances, an Eight Eight and a Final Four (2020-21). He led Houston to the regular season Big 12 title last year despite the Cougars just joining the conference that year, which was arguably his most impressive feat with UH.
