PLATTEKILL, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — New York State Police reported the arrest of two people from the Bronx after a traffic stop on Monday in Ulster County. Julkrin Espinoza-Eslava, 29, and Jose Guerrero-Zarate, 29, are both facing several charges.

On January 13 around 1:15 p.m., state police stopped a car on I-87 North by Exit 18 in Plattekill after allegedly seeing numerous vehicle and traffic law violations. During the stop, troopers searched the car and reportedly located two loaded, semi-automatic handguns, one of which was later found to be stolen.
The driver, Espinoza-Eslava, and Guerrero-Zarate, one of the car’s two backseat passengers, were taken into custody at the scene. The second passenger, a 21-year-old from the Bronx, was not arrested in the incident. Espinoza-Eslava and Guerrero-Zarate now face the following charges:
Espinoza-Eslava
- Second-degree criminal possession of a weapon
- Criminal possession of a firearm
- Various traffic law violations
Guerrero-Zarate
- Second-degree criminal possession of a weapon
- Criminal possession of a firearm
- Fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen Property
Espinoza-Eslava and Guerrero-Zarate were arraigned at the Ulster County Centralized Arraignment Part Court before being remanded to the Ulster County Jail on $100,000 cash bail, $200,000 bond, or $300,000 partially secured bond.
