Flint mayor names two ambassadors to fill in for missing 3rd Ward council member

FLINT, MI — 3rd Ward residents haven’t had representation on the Flint City Council for more than three months but Mayor Sheldon Neeley says two new ambassadors will bring their concerns directly to City Hall.

Neeley introduced LaShawn Johnson and Linda Boose as the ambassadors during a news conference on Tuesday, Jan. 14, promising a listening ear and praising them for their long-term commitment to the city.

Former 3rd Ward Councilman Quincy Murphy died on Sept. 29 and despite a city charter requirement that the council fill the vacancy within 30 days, no candidate has been able to secure the five votes needed to win the appointment…
