Why one Peoria Civic Center board member won’t be voting on theater naming rights deal

Vice Chair of the Peoria Civic Center Authority Board Yvonne Greer Batton will be recusing herself from a vote on the Civic Center Theater’s new naming rights deal due to a conflict of interest.

The Civic Center Authority Board is scheduled to vote later this month on approval for a new, seven-year naming rights deal between the Peoria Civic Center Theater and Prairie Home Alliance. The partnership deal was announced last week as a “source of pride” for the Prairie Home Alliance .

Greer Batton will be recusing herself from the vote, however, because she is both the vice chair of the Civic Center Authority Board, a decision-making board for the venue that is appointed by the mayor’s office, and marketing director for Prairie Home Alliance…
