TALLADEGA, Ala. (WBRC) – The Alabama Department of Human Resources (DHR) has revoked the license of a daycare in Talladega following the report of a new incident of a surveillance video of physical punishment of a child while on a six-month probation in 2024. The Precious Vessels Learning Center is now closed.
DHR placed the daycare facility on probation in June after reviewing a pair of surveillance videos from May 14, 2024. The first video showed a worker whipping a 3-year-old boy and a 3-year-old girl on the legs with a belt. The other video showed another worker hitting the same 3-year-old boy in the head with an open hand.
While those workers pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges, they are appealing their convictions. The video evidence, along with other violations of DHR Performance Standards resulted in a six-month probationary period from June 18 to December 18, 2024.
