Throughout the years, Nevada Union has been a difficult place to play for Placer boys basketball. While the Hillmen entered Tuesday’s Foothill Valley League game with a seven-game winning streak over the Miners, the wins didn’t come easy. Five of the victories were by six points or less and the last two matchups were decided by one possession.
The Miners typically boast one of the better home-court advantages in the league, but no amount of Miner magic could help them Tuesday night, as the Hillmen led by double digits for most of the night and staked their claim atop the FVL standings with a 78-60 victory.
Placer coach Nate Swesey said he was pleased with how his team handed the pressure of playing a rival on the road in a tough environment, noting that the coaching staff preached to the players beforehand the importance of playing the game at their pace and not letting the sharpshooting Miners get hot…
