Seattle weather: Morning fog, afternoon sunshine Wednesday

SEATTLE Wednesday will bring morning fog to parts of the Puget Sound area, but more sunshine for the afternoon.

It was another cool day across western Washington. High temperatures ran about five degrees below average with cloudy skies all day.

Fog will redevelop overnight with chillier temperatures in the low 30s. Freezing fog is possible in spots early Wednesday.

The sunshine should start breaking through the clouds on Wednesday afternoon, as some drier easterly winds help mix out the low level clouds. Highs will be slightly warmer, in the mid 40s.

Thursday, the ridge of high pressure will break down, and a weak front will push through western Washington in the morning hours. Any rain will be very light during the morning commute, and snowfall will be nominal in the Cascades.

Friday through the holiday weekend, another ridge of high pressure will build offshore. A colder air mass will push into western Washington, which will limit fog and bring in more sunshine. Daytime highs will be close to 40 degrees this weekend with overnight lows in the 20s.
