KIRKLAND, Wash. — The last suspect convicted in the 2020 murder of a teenager in Kirkland was sentenced to just over 16 years in prison.
In September 2020, 18-year-old Cyrus Mason died when he was shot at Houghton Beach Park on Lake Washington Boulevard. Investigators with the Kirkland Police Department said Mason was meeting up with others to trade an AR-style rifle for cash and a pistol.
Police said the suspects – Joshua Hawthorne, Chrisean Kaufman and Calvin Vao – had “conspired to rob” Mason at the park. During the incident, Mason was shot five times with a handgun and died from his injuries…
