I’ve always felt a little spoiled that two of my favorite places to visit have shared a parking lot. I can enter one store, peruse for a bit, and then swing by Fat Boy Burgers and get myself a Fat Boy Burger (no olives). With its neon sign and classic building, everything about the place feels like a blast from the past and I appreciate the vibe.
This makes sense considering Fat Boy Burgers opened way back in 1952. However, after 70 years in business, Fat Boy Burgers has announced it will close its doors very soon.

Fat Boy Burgers, located at 2450 Plainfield Ave NE, has been a staple of Grand Rapids for many years. While the area around it developed (a Dollar General now neighbors the building), Fat Boy Burgers has maintained its classic mom-and-pop appeal.
