Upcoming Santa Ana winds could be strongest since night L.A. fires broke out

After nine straight days of Santa Ana winds, the Los Angeles area will finally get a reprieve from critical fire weather conditions this weekend. Unfortunately, the break won’t last long.

Another round of strong Santa Ana winds is possible Monday through Wednesday. Winds could be the most widespread and strongest since the Jan. 7 event that contributed to the spread of the Palisades and Eaton fires.

“The big story is that it just looks very dry all week next week, with a growing risk of red flag warnings,” said Ryan Kittell, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service office in Oxnard.
