Oboist from Grand Valley is national finalist in music competition

Nick Carozza, a Grand Junction native and Colorado Mesa University graduate, will be competing in a national music competition this spring.

Carozza, an oboist, is a national finalist in the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) Young Artist Woodwind Competition. The competition is set for March 15-19 in Minneapolis.

Carozza grew up in the Grand Valley, attending Scenic Elementary School, East Middle School, Fruita 8/9 School and Fruita Monument High School. Carozza got his bachelor’s degree in music from Colorado Mesa University, learning from CMU oboe instructor William Aikens, who also serves as the principal oboist of the Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra.
