Charlotte judge approves $270,000 payment to girl, mother separated at US border

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – A Mecklenburg County judge approved a settlement on Wednesday between the US government and a mother and daughter who were separated at the US border in 2018.

Court records obtained by WBTV show the girl filed a claim against the government, claiming her rights were violated when she was held by the US Office of Refugee Resettlement over a roughly two-month period in 2018.
