Ohio man serving federal prison sentence for selling guns to kids in Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — An Ohio man has been sentenced to four years in prison for selling guns to children in Tampa. Court documents reveal that on eight separate occasions between November 2022 and June 2023, Gabriel Gladman, 23, gave false information to federally licensed firearm dealers in Tampa to purchase eight guns.

“There’s no higher priority than doing everything we can to keep our kids safe,” said Roger Handberg, U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Florida. Handberg said on six separate dates, Gladman sold some of those weapons to minors. Investigators then learned some of those guns were used in violent crimes committed by these minors in Tampa.

“When it comes to getting guns in the hands of children, we don’t care what your reason is there’s no good reason for someone to lie about firearm transactions reports to get guns that end up in the hands of children,” Handberg said. The Department of Justice said Tampa police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated the case. Tampa city leaders believe their efforts are driving down gun violence among young offenders.

“You cannot pull a bullet back once that trigger has been pulled,” said Mayor Jane Castor, City of Tampa. “That’s the end of it and so many lives are needlessly lost.”…
