MONROE, La. (KNOE) – According to data from the USDA, Louisiana ranks highest in the country for senior citizen food insecurity with 14% of seniors saying they are food insecure.
Taylor Costa from the Northeast Louisiana Food Bank says this issue is caused by many factors.
“We have a lot of seniors in the Community that reach out trying to see what they can do or how they can get help,“ said Costa. ”We have multiple. We have the senior program that we operate here at the Food Bank. Also, have a program with the commodity box program.“…
