Aurora schools network still down; Security expert weighs in on possible dangers

AURORA, Colo (KDVR) — Aurora Public Schools are going on five days without full security systems, phones and internet access after a network outage.

APS delayed school start times for Thursday and Friday after suspicious activity caused a districtwide network outage on Monday morning. APS officials declined an interview with FOX31 for a second day.

“I’m literally in the dark. I literally have just a voicemail that there was a Wi-Fi outage and there was going to be a delayed start. That’s pretty much it,” said East Middle School parent Tony Chavez. “I just thought that was interesting how an outage has such a trickle effect.”

All APS schools will start two hours later than normal on Friday, and morning preschool will be canceled, similar to Thursday because of the continued outage. The district anticipates internet and phone services to be restored by the time school returns Tuesday after being off Monday for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day…
