New clues have residents in one upstate New York town believing that the grocery store chain Trader Joe’s is coming soon!
Trader Joe’s has long been one of the most sought-after grocery store chains across New York. It’s big news anytime they announce they are expanding, and oftentimes when they announce they are opening a new store many Hudson Valley residents get their hopes up that this might be the year we finally get one in the area.
Trader Joe’s Expanding in New York
Sadly, if you currently have your hopes up (I do), let us let you down easy and tell you that the Hudson Valley will NOT be getting a Trader Joe’s anytime soon. Yes, there’s a store in the Yorktown, NY area but as far as one opening in Poughkeepsie, Kingston, Middletown, or Newburgh, NY it looks like we will have to sit on the sidelines glowing with envy again, as it appears like another New York town will soon be home to a Trader Joe’s.
Trader Joe’s Opening 3rd Upstate New York Location?
According to multiple reports, the Capital Region (Albany, NY area) may be getting its THIRD Trader Joe’s store in the near future, although nothing is official, yet. According to documents submitted to the planning board in the Town of Bethlehem, NY, the Hamlet of Glenmont could soon be home to a new “grocery store”. The new project will include demolishing an 18,000+-square-foot space and converting over 14,000 square feet of existing retail space into a “grocery store” at the Glenmont Plaza at 376-406 Feura Bush Road. It will also include building a new 6,000-square-foot retail/restaurant space.
Will it Be a Trader Joe’s?
The plans didn’t specify that Trader Joe’s would be the new tenants but according to WTEN, Trader Joe’s East Inc. applied for a New York State liquor license on December 19th at the proposed site at 388 Feura Bush Road. According to the State Liquor Authority, Trader Joe’s East Inc. is listed as the applicant for all the Trader Joe’s locations in New York State.
