Gas leak in Winston-Salem causing multiple road closures, fire dept. says

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — UPDATE: The Winston-Salem Fire Department says that the gas leak has been fixed and the road has reopened. They said city utility workers hit a gas line and Piedmont Natural Gas helped fix the leak.

The Winston-Salem Fire Department is on the scene of a large gas leak in the 2100 block of Old Lexington Road Friday.

Multiple roads are closed at this time:

  • Waughtown Street is closed in both directions between Glendale and Dacian Street.
  • Old Lexington Road is closed at Sprague and Waughtown Streets in both directions.
