Atlanta apartment developer pays $19.9 million for Fort Myers land

An Atlanta-based developer has bought nearly 32 acres in Fort Myers and plans to build apartments on the site.

The developer, The Residential Group, paid $19.96 million for the 31.9-acre assemblage of land at the southeast corner of Winkler Road and Gladiolus Drive. It is in Lee County’s mixed-use overlay district.

The district, according to the county, identifies areas that are appropriate for mixed-use development because they are near public transportation, schools, recreation, and existing residential, shopping and employment centers…
