Gainesville Woman Arrested for DUI After Wrong-Way Chase Ends with PIT Maneuver in Gwinnett County

A Gainesville woman was taken into custody after a dangerous maneuver by the Gwinnett County Police thwarted what could have been a catastrophic incident. As per the dash cam footage from a patrol vehicle, Yuris Garcia Galvez, age 27, reportedly made an ill-advised U-turn and proceeded to drive on the wrong side of the road, putting her and others in peril. This incident occurred around 2:45 a.m. last Sunday, on Nelson Brogdon Boulevard near Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, according to FOX 5 Atlanta.

In an attempt to curb the egregious violation, Sgt. Kingsley, being the one to spot Garcia Galvez’s car, activated his sirens which seemingly were dismissed as the car continued its hazardous journey. It wasn’t until the officer executed a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver, a risky intervention to stop the car, that the chase came to a halt. The officer noticed the driver traveling, attempting to avert a potentially fatal outcome, as reported by AccessWDUN.

Subsequent to the intervention, the field sobriety tests were conducted by the arresting officer which led to Garcia Galvez being taken into custody. Upon failing the breathalyzer test, the charges brought against her included DUI, driving on the wrong side of the roadway, and fleeing or attempting to elude police. She was then booked into the Gwinnett County Jail as a result of these actions, as detailed by both FOX 5 Atlanta and AccessWDUN…
