NFL players develop all sorts of habits and superstitions. Some try to wear the same undershirt every game, and others eat the same thing every gameday.
The idea is to get into a routine. It’s the same ideology of practice making perfect. If you have success doing A, B and C ahead of the game, then next week, it makes sense to try to continue doing A, B and C to replicate those results. The players’ superstitions and traditions are often personal, so they don’t have to make sense to fans.
