Soak up the warm weather today, because it’s turning cold tonight! Scattered showers will linger this morning ahead of a cold front. Some patchy fog is expected, too. A blast of cold air will arrive overnight tonight, and we’ll drop into the upper 30s and low 40s by Sunday morning. The wind will make it feel much colder, and gusts near 25-30 MPH will be possible. We’ll only reach the mid to upper 40s by Sunday afternoon. Temperatures will plummet into the mid to upper 20 by Monday morning, and the wind chill will be in the teens! People, pets, plants, and pipes will need protection. Monday afternoon will be cold with highs in the upper 30s to low 40s.
A low pressure system moving through the Gulf will give us the chance for wintry precipitation on Tuesday. Snow is likely north of I-10, and we’ll likely see a mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain closer to the coast. This will cause significant travel impacts on Tuesday, and a Winter Storm Watch has been issued for Coastal Mississippi. High temperatures will only reach the mid 30s. We’ll drop below freezing again Tuesday night into Wednesday with temperatures in the mid 20s. Pipes will need protection once again…
