PLANO, Texas — The Plano Police Department (PPD) said recent data compiled by its Crime Analysis Unit indicates a continuing decline in violent crime and property crime rates.
In fact, the overall major crime rate is 16.10 (per 1,000 population ratio), which is the lowest it has been since 1993, according to PPD. The seven offenses that the FBI collectively terms “Part 1 Crime” (more commonly known outside of law enforcement as “Major Crime”) are Homicide, Rape, Robbery, Aggravated Assault, Burglary, Larceny, and Motor Vehicle Theft.
