Cold weather not impacting National Western Stock Show attendance

DENVER (KDVR) — Colorado’s severe temperatures come as many events continue throughout the Dr. Martin Luther King Junior holiday weekend.

The 119th National Western Stock Show will feature the MLK Jr. African American Heritage Rodeo on Jan. 20 at 6 p.m.

The NWSS drew nearly 60,000 visitors on its first day, beating last year’s record. Visitors told FOX31 the cold will not prevent them from attending one of the biggest events of the year.

“We’re from Wisconsin — this is nothing, this is a heat wave. People get out of the house come on, come on out to the stock show,” said one grandmother. The NWSS, which runs through Jan. 26, will offer ten more Pro Rodeos, eight horse shows, dog events, shopping and lots of activities for kids, like a petting zoo…
