Ukraine is developing a domestic air defense system to counter Russia’s new “Oreshnik” missile.
General Oleksandr Syrskyi, Ukraine’s army commander, stated that the system will combine air and anti-missile capabilities.
Ukraine has previously relied on allies for air defense, but the invasion has spurred domestic production.
In 2024, 30% of Ukraine’s military gear was produced domestically, according to President Zelenskyy.
Western defense companies have also established partnerships in Ukraine, including Rheinmetall’s air defense facility.
The UK recently provided Ukraine with the Gravehawk air defense system, which can modify air-to-air missiles for ground launch.
