(FOX40.COM) — Police officers in Northern California recovered thousands of dollars worth of stolen merchandise, including $4,000 worth of baby formula in a retail theft operation.
Recently, the Rancho Cordova Police Department , with assistance from Sacramento County Probation officers, conducted a retail theft operation in the Folsom-Olson-Zinfandel shopping center. RCPD said the team made 11 felony arrests under the new Proposition 36 law, issued four misdemeanor citations, and recovered $5,732.48 in stolen merchandise.
During the operations, one couple was arrested after they were found to have $4,000 worth of stolen baby formula in their vehicle, according to RCPD. Detectives subsequently authored a search warrant for their residence and said they recovered additional caches of stolen baby formula.
“RCPD understands the burden retail theft places on the community, consumers, and retailers,” the agency said on social media . “We will continue to regularly conduct these types of operations to help combat this crime trend, especially in light of the new laws which carry stiffer penalties for violators!”…
