FLORENCE, S.C. — Sixty years after Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his iconic “I Have a Dream” speech on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, the Florence community came together to honor his legacy with its 26th annual MLK Day commemorative march, carrying forward his dream with the same passion and determination that once burned in his eyes.
The march began at the Seventh-day Adventist Church on Oakland Avenue, where participants gathered over coffee, hot chocolate, doughnuts, chicken and sausage biscuits before embarking on the march.
The procession moved along Oakland Avenue, crossed the Martin Luther King Jr. Bridge, and concluded at the Florence Center’s Performing Arts Center with a program that highlighted King’s enduring message of equality and justice…
