Last night marked the conclusion of another thrilling season of college football. History repeated itself as Ohio State defeated Notre Dame in the first-ever 12-team playoff. Going into the game, history had already been made, as Notre Dame’s Marcus Freeman became the first Black head coach in the BCS/CFP era.
The Fighting Irish got off to a strong start with a 10-minute, 18-play drive. However, the Buckeyes took control for most of the game after. Quinshon Judkins and freshman Jeremiah Smith dominated in the first half, combining for three touchdowns.
From the late third quarter onward, the Irish made things interesting. After trailing by 24 points, Notre Dame pulled to within eight. On a critical third down, the Buckeyes converted, effectively sealing the game. This marked the second time in a row Notre Dame had been embarrassed in a National Championship game…
