At the heart of Salt Lake City’s Ballpark neighborhood, bike patrol officers from the Salt Lake City Police Department made a notable arrest on Monday afternoon. While monitoring the area in a bid to clamp down on drug-related disturbances, the officers encountered a group involved in what would result in a drug bust. The apprehension of a 44-year-old woman, identified as Lynda Montoya, became the focal point of this police action.
According to SLCPD, the incident began at about 1:45 p.m. when officers observed several individuals jaywalking on State Street near 1400 South. Before this illegal street crossing, the group was seen inside a car that contained items such as a burnt pipe, needle, and burnt tinfoil, usually suspects in the paraphernalia lineup and indicative of drug use.
The find inside the car didn’t end with paraphernalia, officers also discovered substances within the vehicle. Suspected marijuana and a white crystal substance, which later tested positive for methamphetamine, were recovered.
