Bitter Arctic air is gripping the region, with an extreme cold warning in effect 7 p.m. Tuesday until 10 a.m. Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
A cold weather advisory remains in place until 7 p.m. Tuesday as dangerously low wind chills continue to create hazardous conditions locally and throughout the state.
“Very cold wind chills as low as 18 below will affect the region during the advisory period,” the National Weather Service said on its website. “The extreme cold warning overnight will bring even more hazardous conditions, with wind chills dropping to as low as 27 below zero.”…
