CLEVELAND (WJW) – The coldest temperatures of the season are just ahead.
FOX 8 Meteorologists forecast that wind chills could dip below -20° early Wednesday morning. That’s dangerously cold ! But, it’s not the coldest Northeast Ohio has ever felt.

Meteorologist Scott Sabol did some digging and reports the coldest wind chill historically in the area hit on Jan. 20, 1985, at 9 p.m. when the wind chill in Akron dropped to -56°.
That same day, Mansfield had a wind chill of -55° at 8 p.m. and Cleveland had a wind chill of -48° also recorded at 9 p.m.
Cold snap could fry your furnace
Coldest wind chill I could find historically in northeastern Ohio was January 20, 1985 at 9:00 p.m. Akron wind chill was -56°. Mansfield had a wind chill of -55° at 8pm Cleveland had a wind chill of -48° at 9pm. These are calculated using the updated formula @NWSCLE @fox8news
