JACKSON, Miss. ( WJTV ) – Monday was Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. He was the mainstay of the Civil Rights Movement.
We have many people here in Mississippi who had more than just a passing interest in the movement.
Hezekiah Watkins was the youngest Freedom Rider during the movement. In the 1960s, Watkins, who was 13, went to the bus station in downtown Jackson to watch the Freedom Riders arrive. He suddenly found himself right in the middle of the movement.
