Every time you come home to Idaho after a great vacation with family or friends, you can’t help but feel a little empty. Not because reality is setting in after leaving all responsibilities behind for the past ten days or because you’ve left family and friends to return home, but because your bank account is a lot less full than it was when you left. That’s because traveling from Idaho is much more expensive than the rest of the country.
According to new research, Idaho is the sixth most expensive state to travel from. That means, on average, it costs more to travel from Boise than from Honolulu. The difference is that you expect to pay extra for travel when you live on an island like Hawaii. But believe it or not, Hawaii didn’t even make the top 15 on the list of the most expensive states to travel from.
Alaska is the most expensive state to travel from, which makes sense. It’s not close to anything, and it requires melting a lot of ice to get a plane to take off. Utah, Michigan, New Jersey, and Nebraska are the only other states more expensive to travel from than Idaho…
