The Flores Family and Shamrock Foods Unite to Support Communities in Crisis

In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Flores family, known for their Si Charro! Restaurants and Flores Concepts, initiated a heartfelt program called Tamales for Heroes. What began as a generous gesture of donating over $10,000 worth of tamales quickly grew into a community-wide effort. Through this initiative, the family’s Carlotta’s Kitchen USDA division produced thousands of heat-and-serve handmade tamales for Tucson’s first responders and healthcare workers, providing a warm and comforting meal during challenging times.

Today, as devastating wildfires sweep across Los Angeles and surrounding communities in Southern California, the Flores family is once again stepping up. With deep roots in Southern California, they have relaunched the Tamales for Heroes program, donating more than 3,600 handmade tamales from Carlotta’s Kitchen to aid the affected communities. Partnering with Shamrock Foods of Arizona, they aim to bring relief and sustenance to those in need.

Just as they did during the pandemic, the Flores family has reactivated www.tamalesforheroes.com to enable community members to contribute to this effort. The website allows individuals to help fund additional tamale donations, which are critical as Los Angeles faces ongoing challenges from the wildfire crisis.
