Wilmington Man Charged in Crackdown on Illegal Firearms and Drug Trafficking

The Wilmington Police Department’s recent crackdown on illegal firearms and drug sales has led to the arrest of 22-year-old Shanmir Gasby. As laid out in the police report, the department’s Gun Intelligence Unit has been on Gasby’s trail since December, observing his moves in anticipation of finding just cause to intervene.

It all came to a head last Wednesday when at precisely 12:02 p.m., authorities executed a search warrant in the 1200 block of West 4th Street. Officers apprehended Gasby without a single hitch, confiscating a loaded 12-gauge shotgun, a loaded .380 caliber handgun, 2,948.94 grams of marijuana, and $2,696 in cash…
