CalFresh recipients in Riverside County who have lost food due to recent power shut-offs can apply for replacement benefits until February 5. The power outages, which were implemented by utility companies to prevent wildfires, disrupted power for thousands of residents, including nearly 26,000 people receiving CalFresh benefits in the region. These recipients are now eligible for food replacement assistance to help them recover from the loss of perishable items that spoiled during the outages.In response to these challenges, the California Department of Social Services has extended an option for residents to apply for food replacements through the official “Benefits Cal Dot Com” website.
