Former Brecksville-Broadview Heights school health aide sentenced to prison for drug theft, tampering with records

CLEVELAND — Danielle Kovacs, a former health care clinic aide at Brecksville-Broadview Heights Elementary School, has been sentenced to two years in prison for crimes that endangered the health and safety of children under her care.

Kovacs was sentenced Wednesday morning in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court after previously pleading guilty to one felony count of tampering with records and five felony counts of theft of drugs.

The 42-year-old Kovacs admitted to stealing prescription medications, including Adderall, Focalin, and Ritalin, from the school clinic between January 2021 and February 2024. These medications, which treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), were prescribed to students under her care…
