Health and Change: Red Dye No.3 to Disappear from Montana Foods

Growing up in the ’70s and the ’80s, and basically in a single-parent household, I ate a lot of stuff that wasn’t very healthy. As I get older I try to eat better, but let’s face it, I don’t always do a good job, but at least I try.

There are foods that we will no longer see on Montana shelves in the future, some of them are being discontinued by the manufacturer.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration will no longer allow the use of “FD&C Red No. 3”, also known as Red Dye No. 3 and erythrosine as an additive in food and ingested drugs. On January 15, 2025, the FDA issued an order to not allow food or prescription manufacturers to use it in their food or prescription medications anymore…
