Former Del. Budget Director, nominee for Wilmington Mayor’s Chief of Staff, admits to shoplifting charge

Wilmington Mayor John Carney says he looks forward to his nominee for Chief of Staff starting with the city, now that Cerron Cade has admitted to a shoplifting charge in Court of Common Pleas.

Cade was serving as Delaware Office of Management and Budget Director, and preparing to become the Mayor’s Chief of Staff, when he was charged with six misdemeanor counts of shoplifting in December. The charges were based on alleged incidents at Home Depot on Miller Road.

Carney, who was concluding his second term as Governor at the time, said Cade was placed on paid administrative leave at the time, and expressed hope that Cade could work through this challenge and return to his career in public service.
