Indiana AG wins $303K lawsuit over unsafe conditions at Plymouth Apartments

Attorney General Todd Rokita secured a $303,702 judgment against RICH-MONS Group LLC, the landlord of The Pointe Apartments in Plymouth, Indiana, over severe safety violations. Tenants faced hazardous conditions, including roof leaks, black mold, and unsafe electrical systems. One tenant reported being shocked while showering due to electrical issues.

The Marshall County Circuit Court ordered the landlord to pay $214,902 in restitution to former tenants for mental anguish and actual losses, $13,800 to cover investigation costs, and a $75,000 civil penalty for violations of the Deceptive Consumer Sales Act.

The case, filed by the Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division through the Homeowner Protection Unit (HPU), arose after a City of Plymouth inspection deemed the apartments uninhabitable, displacing approximately 20 residents…
