ARLINGTON, Va. — An innocent Virginia woman convicted of a robbery after her sister stole identity to commit the crime has been exonerated two years later.
In October 2023, Kalonda Starr McLean stole Tide Pods from a Safeway, according to court documents. The manager of the store caught her, and when police searched her bag, they found the detergent. And when the officer asked for her name, she said her sister’s name, Keyiede Latay McLean. Kalonda McLean was given a summons for a bench trial and was released.
