Haitian National With 17 Convictions In Massachusetts Detained By Ice In Boston

On Wednesday, law enforcement officials in Boston apprehended a 25-year-old man who is a member of a violent Haitian street gang. This individual, who has accumulated 17 criminal convictions in Massachusetts, was taken into custody.

According to a statement by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Boston, Wisteguens Jean Quely Charles, a Haitian national who is currently in the country without legal documentation, has been found guilty of multiple drug, weapons, assault, and battery offenses. Charles initially arrived in the United States in July 2013 but subsequently violated the conditions of his legal entry.

Between August 16, 2022, and August 14, 2024, Charles faced a series of legal issues. He was arrested, charged, and ultimately convicted for a total of 17 crimes. These offenses ranged from possessing and intending to distribute controlled substances to distributing controlled substances. In addition, Charles was charged with trespassing, carrying brass knuckles as a dangerous weapon, possessing a firearm and ammunition without the necessary permits.
