Border czar Tom Homan admits mass deportation plan hinges on funding.
In an interview with ABC’s Martha Raddatz, Homan acknowledged the Trump administration’s deportation plan depends on Congressional funding. He stated, “We can do what we can with the money we have.”
Homan, speaking realistically, said more funding would lead to greater success. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) lacks the resources to detain all targeted undocumented immigrants.
He defined success as removing as many public safety threats as possible, including gang members and members of the Venezuelan cartel, Tren de Agua.
Homan believes reducing crime rates committed by undocumented immigrants is a key measure of success. He also cited the removal of national security threats as another indicator.
He revealed the government used military aircraft to deport migrants to Guatemala, marking a new precedent. Homan said these flights will now be daily occurrences. Over 150 migrants were reportedly flown to Guatemala on Thursday.
