United Faculty of Illinois State University sees ‘immediate jump’ in support after intent to strike filed

NORMAL, Ill. (WMBD) — It’s the day after United Faculty of Illinois State University filed an intent to strike, and a bargaining member said professors in the union are feeling “nervous but committed.”

Keith Pluymers, associate history professor and bargaining member for United Faculty of ISU, said after the union announced the intent to strike filing, there was an “immediate jump” in support for them from students and community members.

He said if a deal is not met, and the faculty strike, he hopes students join them…
