Thanksgiving at The Salvation Army is a Chance to Give Back and Share Joy

As someone who has volunteered at The Salvation Army in the past, I’ve witnessed firsthand how their programs bring hope and happiness to those in need. This Thanksgiving, The Salvation Army in Abilene is once again stepping up to serve the community with a warm meal, love, and support to those who otherwise wouldn’t have anything on the day of thanks.

Serving Over 500 Thanksgiving Meals

On Thanksgiving Day, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., The Salvation Army at 1726 Butternut Street right here in Abilene, Texas, will serve a traditional Thanksgiving meal to over 500 individuals. Volunteers and staff are dedicated to creating a festive atmosphere where guests are waited on and treated with care. Captain Joshua McKain highlights the heart of the mission: “We’re determined that everyone in our community is reminded they are loved and valued, no matter their circumstances.”

Here’s How You Can Help

To make this event a success, community support is crucial. The Salvation Army is seeking donations of 75 turkeys, instant stuffing, canned green beans, cranberry sauce, pies, and other holiday staples. Disposable aluminum pans, dinner rolls, and butter are also welcome…
