70-year-old arrested after man found shot to death in Marietta car wash

Less than two weeks after a man was found dead from a gunshot wound at a Marietta car wash, authorities said a suspect had been arrested.

Robert Baker, 70, was taken into custody Monday night on multiple counts, including murder, after investigators linked him to the fatal shooting, Marietta police said. Authorities said he is accused of killing Daniel Lanard Richardson Jr., 59, on Dec. 30.

Police spokesman Officer Chuck McPhilamy said Baker was identified through “the use of technology as well as witness statements collected during their investigation.” He did not provide further details about what technology was used in the case.

Baker and Richardson were acquaintances, McPhilamy said, but detectives do not yet know the extent of their relationship…
