Fired employee accused of setting fire to downtown Augusta hotel

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – A recently fired employee has been accused of setting fire to America’s Best Value Inn in downtown Augusta, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday morning.

On September 29, at 11:26 p.m., a Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigator patrolling downtown when he observed America’s Best Value Inn, 441 Broad Street, was on fire.

Augusta’s second post-Helene shooting happened around 6:33 p.m. Sunday in the 1000 block of River Ridge Drive, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
