LAFAYETTE TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WJW) – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating after a Medina man was struck and killed while riding his bicycle Wednesday afternoon.
The crash happened just after 4:30 p.m. along State Route 162, near Deerview Lane, in Lafayette Township of Medina County.

According to state troopers, the preliminary investigation revealed that the man, riding his bike on a bike trail in Buckeye Woods Park, tried to cross State Route 162 when he was struck by a 2020 Yamaha YZR-R3 motorcycle.
The bicyclist, identified as 72-year-old John McCandlish, was pronounced dead at the scene.
